At Southern Tails, the safety of our dogs and their families is our highest priority. We require current vaccination records for every dog before attending class, carefully screen each registration, and maintain small class sizes to provide a safe, positive learning environment.
Because dogs are animals and can occasionally behave unpredictably, participation in dog training carries some inherent risk. By participating in classes, private lessons, workshops, or events offered by Southern Tails Dog School, I voluntarily accept these risks for myself, my family members, guests, and my dog.
I understand that I am responsible for my dog's behavior while attending Southern Tails activities and agree to follow all instructions provided by the instructors.
I hereby release and hold harmless Southern Tails Dog School, its owners, instructors, employees, and representatives from claims for injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in classes or other Southern Tails activities, except where prohibited by law.
I also agree to accept responsibility for any injury or damage caused by my dog to another person, another dog, or property while attending Southern Tails activities.
I have read and understand this agreement and voluntarily accept its terms.

A nice fitting buckle or a martingale collar are good. Harness are fine for toy breeds if you have one. They are also fine to use on any size dog to come from the parking lot to the training room if you are more comfortable with that. Once you get into the training room you can move the leash to the collar.

NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES . We sell martingale collars and leashes. We also have loaners. Just a safety note about martingale collars. They should be kept on the hook attached to your leash. Since it is a noose, they are not suitable for wearing unattended in the house.

Look for your dog's name above the benches. Walk straight to your seat. Sit and relax. Get your treats out and ready to reward your dog's GOOD BEHAVIOR. Enjoy your class and the special time you are taking to learn something new together and work as a team.

This not unusual between kids, parents, & unexpected appts. There is always someone that will miss a class. We regret we cannot offer make up sessions due to the numerous times this happens. Our instructors only come to school to teach their classes or teach scheduled private lessons. We have found that most students do fine with catching up during the class. Just text Ally and she will text you the woof words so you will know what they did in the class you missed. If you feel that you want a private lesson you can schedule for the cost of $86.

Please call, email or text us so your instructor will know ahead of time to set the room up safely for you. You will enter through the solid gray door in the parking lot and be seated in that section by the back door. You will also leave through that door. Please don't empty your dog at poop station since that would entice male dogs to the area. Put some type of panties on your dog for class time. We have never had any issues using these precautions but your judgment of course comes above ours.

We suggest that you make their surgery appt the day after your usual class night. That gives them time to recover. Please let you instructor know about your dog's surgery. If that is not possible, come to school without your dog and observe the class. If that is not possible please text Ally and ask for the class woof words.
For the safety of all the DOGS, please do not bring your dog to school if they have diarrhea, have vomited, coughed, not eating or just not feeling well. We want all our students to be as safe as possible.
We will text you your class woof words.

Ally is the heart behind Southern Tails. After more than 30 years of teaching group classes, she now focuses on private lessons on Saturdays and Sundays while mentoring the next generation of trainers. Alongside running the dog school, she and Gary are busy with their Canine Players – Dogs for Film sister business which keeps them active on film sets.
Gary keeps everything running smoothly as our office manager and resident “fix-it” guy. Together, Ally and Gary balance the business side with their love for animals and training.
Home is never quiet — they share it with their seven dogs (Jack, Cote, Bill, Molly, Mick, Dylan, and Casey), two cats (Morgan and Pete), and a lively flock of chickens.

Corey has been part of Southern Tails for nearly 20 years, ever since she first came to class with her Great Dane, Levi. She now teaches our Beginner OB 101, Advanced OB 102, and Loose Leash Walking classes, and also works with dogs on film sets for Canine Players.
What makes Corey unique is her passion and creativity — she goes above and beyond for her students and their dogs. From decorating our storefront windows, to dog cakes at every graduation, to sharing class highlights on Instagram, she makes learning fun and memorable.
Southern Tails simply wouldn’t be the same without her energy, ideas, and heart. At home, she lives with her husband Gus, her Havanese Josie, her Great Dane Dolly, and Charlie the Parrot.

Caroline is our Best Puppy, CGC, and Nose Work instructor — She brings both expertise and enthusiasm to every class, helping dog parents build strong foundations and positive relationships with their dogs.
In her free time, she competes in AKC conformation, nose work, agility, and Fast CAT with her dogs Pippin, Chopper, and Margo. At home, she and her husband Ronnie also share life with two adorable cats.

Ellen teaches Best Puppy, OB 101, and private lessons, and she’s always ready to step in wherever she’s needed across our program. She has a wonderful gift for working with children, making them feel confident and special as they learn to train their dogs.
With her own dogs — Teddy, Traveler, and Fozzie — she enjoys competing in agility, nose work, and freestyle. Ellen brings warmth, patience, and encouragement to every class, and we’re grateful for all the ways she contributes to Southern Tails.

Sam teaches private lessons and assists the Best Puppy and OB 101 classes.

Keri works behind the scenes of Southern Tails, keeping everything running smoothly—making sure the school is organized, welcoming and clean. She also prepares the “Woof Words” for each week. At home, she loves life with her GSD/Border Collie mix, Liam..
